Thelma's Chicken & Waffles
Sent from my iPhone. Please excuse any typos. After cruising around downtown Roanoke for a while, we stopped at a market with a bunch of local vendors and artists selling everything from photography to soap. Then hit up Thelma's Waffles & Chicken for lunch.

The famous Texas Tavern
Sent from my iPhone. Please excuse any typos.A diner that serves burgers and fries and "seats 1000 people...10 people at a time."
Roanoke VA
Sent from my iPhone. Please excuse any typos.Great to be back. It was fun driving by and reminiscing about all the places I visited during the Journey of Hope in 2005. This is the Roanoke Hotel, where we were set up during that trip.
Olive & Sinclair Salt & Pepper Chocolate
We also picked up a bar of Olive & Sinclair's artesian salt and pepper chocolate, made in Nashville, at Old City Java. Looking forward to giving it a try.

Another photo from Tuscaloosa
Sent from my iPhone. Please excuse any typos. The hospital was one of the only buildings left standing in the tornado's path.
Just drove through Tuscaloosa, AL
Sent from my iPhone. Please excuse any typos. The destruction from the tornado that tore through town is staggering. You can see exactly where the tornado touched down and dragged across the city. It was a very defined path as well, some businesses, houses, and apartments were untouched, while others 50 feet away were completely leveled. So sad.
The Joint
Pretty darn good barbecue (but nothing compared to the nation's best, AKA Memphis AKA not Kansas City hahah)
The Joint
...oh good, we're eating again--we've waited too long since our last feast!
Another spot-on recommendation from a local: The Joint for barbecue (New Orleans' best) before we left town, after a drive through the ninth ward and Katrina devastation area
Elizabeth's...still!!
Such a cool place! Ordered boudin balls, NOLA beer, oysters Rockefeller, osso bucco, oscar style London broil, red beans and rice, and ooey gooey butter cake...this is the only meal I can think of that Adam and I couldn't polish off since we met
Napoleon House
Sitting at the bar Napoleon used to frequent, with the most incredible company (so cute with a sunburn and a ponytail--and I'm not talking about me!)
Napoleon House
So we might have missed Trombone Shorty, but after Jazz Fest we stopped here for a couple Abitas and a Pimm's Cup, sat at the bar where Napoleon used to drink, and chatted with another new friend who gave us the BEST dinner recommendation...ended the trip with an amazing Southern meal (pictures to follow)
They couldn't have possibly put on a better show...
Thank you, Seth and Scott Avett, for reminding me why you are my favorite musicians. And I couldn't have asked for better company
Final Show: Avett Brothers. Man do they put on an amazing show!
Sent from my iPhone. Please excuse any typos. We befriended some Aussies who helped us work our way up to the front. Awesome spot to finish out the day!
Mumford & Sons. Again!
A much bigger venue than Wednesday, but still sounded incredible. The start of standing in one spot in the heat for the next 4 hours. This stage was packed too!
